Are you lost?
In this essay I am going to examine how dogs and cats can find their way home over long distances. Firstly, it is well-known the story about that cat that travelled 200 miles in 2013 to get home. How could it be? It is just unbelievable! Cats use a system to make a mental map of the place; like that they claim their territory, which is very important to them.
By the way, there is a cat called Omar. It is thought to be
the world’s longest cat. It is 120 centimetres long. It is nearly two thirds of
the height of an ordinary person! And it weighs 14 kilometres.
In addition to this, finding the way to get home depends on
the different species. For instance, seabirds and also dung beetle are thought
to steer by the sun and the stars. As well, many more animals navigate via
magnetism, included cats. Mammals have a range of ways to get around, so it
doesn’t surprise us that dogs can do very long ways thanks to their big scent.
Last, but not least, from my point of view, we
should all agree that cats or dogs can be as clever as humans are. That is why
they can do incredible things such as spending time with us, helping us in our
real life and the sweetest thing, giving us so much love.
Mixed feelings when feeling invisible
Next, I am going to write about being invisible
in ordinary life. Currently, some people feel depressed because they think that
they are invisible for the others. Furthermore, feeling invisible can cause
self-conscious people. Although, there are others who love that people turn to
stare at them for their clothes, make-up, hairstyle…
On the contrary, people think they observe
others more than others watch them. Everyone thinks they aren’t observed very
much; it is almost as wearing an invisibility cloak. This might be a subject of
being judgemental with yourself.
Summing up, I believe that people sometimes
love drawing attention and also that someone pays attention to them. When my
friend fancies someone, she loves getting attention to the lucky guy, that is
what she calls one of her flirting techniques.

Veganism and climate change
Furthermore, it may sound crazy that our roast-beef sandwich contributes to environmental degradation of the planet, but this impact requires our attention and action as global citizens. It is said that the best option is veganism. Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.
According to experts, the Mediterranean diet is good for us because is the one that includes lowers amounts of animal products. Although, it still produces emissions. By the way, the vegan diet, by eliminating dairy and egg, would reduce emissions the most, as confirmed by a study. Adopting a plant-based diet is, therefore, one of the most powerful choices an individual can make in mitigating environmental degradation and depletion of Earth's natural resources.
As I see it, everybody has the right to choose what they want to do. I think the best is trying to find a balance between what we eat, that would be good for our health and helping to reduce the environmental degradation. If we do these things, we will live in a better place; as well we will be healthier.
Shorter attention span, a problem for our students?
I’m going to write about the shorter students’
attention span. Everybody agrees that the internet and digital gadgets are
making it harder for us to concentrate, and even more for younger people; but
it is not the only one.
The average human's attention span is... oh
look, a bird! Ok, let’s go. The average attention span for the notoriously
ill-focused goldfish is nine seconds, but according to a new study from
Microsoft Corp., people now generally lose concentration after eight seconds,
highlighting the effects of an increasingly digitalized lifestyle on the brain,
especially thanks to smartphones. On the positive side, the report says our
ability to multitask has drastically improved in the mobile age.
According to scientists, the age of smartphones
has left humans with such a short attention span even a goldfish can hold a
thought for longer. What’s more, we spend a huge amount of time in front of
screens. By the way, a decade ago it was easier to concentrate; it may be
because there was a poor technology. Currently, spinners are more and more used
by teenagers. They even use them while they are in classes. It has already
produced several problems and accidents on younger people.
All in all, I think that if we wanted to
concentrate, we would be able to do it. The attention span in students may be due to a lack of commitment, because
when they are doing something they don’t give as much importance as it has and
it seems them harder, so they look for another way out and they always get
involved in nonsense.
