Dad, you're behind the curve!!

To start, being behind the curve means not keeping up with current thinking or trends and the opposite ahead of the curve.
In Dublin I had to pay cash, because I don't have any credit cards or similars. Tap-and-go would be a good idea, for example when you go abroad, as you don't have to worry about carrying money or no. Nowadays, we can pay via mobile phone, contactless cards, and using your finger.

On the other hand, I knew that Taylor Swift breaks Grammy records with her album 1989.Her first album of the year was in 2010 with Fearless. Here one of her latest song,Out of the woods.
She was born on 13th December 1989. She is a singer and composer. The twenty-six-aged girl started into music with only fourteen in the genre 'country'. She launched her first album in 2006 called like her. Since she started to sing, Taylor has won a lots of awards around the world. In addition, she has appeared on the small and great screen. In films like Jonas Brothers, Valentine's Day, The Giver and in series like CSI, Saturday Night Live...

Subject: My horrible course

Hi, Marion
Don't worry! It wasn't your fault. I was OK. I just decided to phone a taxi.
The course in Chester was really disappointing! I told Jenny that I wanted to return home as soon as possible.
The lessons were too long (6 hours long!). Besides, there weren't any breaks at all!  The teacher also talk a lot and very quickly. What were the  extra‐school activities like? They were so boring. We went to the same places every day, and we didn't say any monuments or museums... nothing interesting.
With regard to the accomodation, it was good. The room I had was big with amazing views, but there wasn't Wifi. What a pity!
I hope to see you soon!

Is the Internet the greatest invention of all time?

Is the Internet the greatest invention of all time?

What can I say about the Internet? Today the Internet is used in so many aspects of our real life:  to buy, to pay, to chat...but mainly to search for information, although not everybody thinks the same.

On the one hand, teenagers are those who use the internet the most. They use it to do homework, to watch films, to listen to music... and to chat with friends in social networks like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter. Internet is so useful that some of them stay at home rather than going out with their friends. Teens say that they couldn't do anything without the Internet, so they need it more and more.

On the other hand, older people use the Internet to send emails, especially if they work. If you don't have any social network, you won't have the same options as people who use them. People like our grandparents have never used the Internet in their lives, but some of them would like to learn how to use a PC or a mobile so that they could chat with relatives. This is so easy that ordinary children can sort it out.

All in all, Internet is the greatest invention I have ever seen since we can do lots of things, which make our lives easier. Besides we are happier.

Separate lives

Antonio Banderas was born in 1960 in Malaga, Spain. Neither his father nor his mother were actors, but Antonio was into the cinema world from an early age. When he was 19 years old he moved to Madrid. He got his first film role in 1982 (Laberinto de pasiones). In 1988, he got engaged to Ana Laza, but the couple split up eight years later.

Melanie Griffith was born in 1957 in NY, USA. Her father wasn't an actor, but her mother was an actress (Tippi Hedren) and she started acting when she was nine months in a commercial. She got her first film role in 1975 (La noche se mueve). Melanie went out with Don Johnson at the age of fourteen, and they got married in 1976. Five years later they split-up, and se met Steven Bauer, who is the father of her son Alexander. They split-up in 1987.
Melanie and Don remarried in 1989, the year that their daughter Dakota was born. Finally, they got divorced six years later.

Antonio and Melanie have known each other since 1994. He fancied her the first moment he saw her. They got married in May 1996. And they had their daughter Stella del Carmen. The marriage ended in 2014, therefore they have been together for eighteen years.
When they were getting divorced, Melanie erased her mythical tattoo of a hearth with Antonio's name.

What do you think?

Do you think the govermment should provide free medical care for everyone?

At the moment, in Spain there is free medical care for everyone, although in countries like USA, there isn't.
One of the arguments for is that everybody has equal rights without mattering colour, sex, culture, religion or language. In addition, providing free medical care to population, in the long term, it is cheaper, because population is protected from illness, epidemics...
In contrast, this can create racism by the people who pay, against illegal immigrants
who accede equally.
All in all, I am in favour of free medical care for everyone. I think that then we will have a healthier society.

Mr P.Bridges,
Starlight Café,
54 Market St,
Oxford 0X4 3SD

Dear Mr Bridges,

I saw your advertisement for part-time staff in the local paper and I'm writing to apply for a job as a kitchen helper in your café in Oxford.

I am 16 years old and I am a student at St Mary's School. I am friendly, kind and hard-working. I love cooking. My grandmother always says that I am the home's chef. I have worked as a waitress in a café near my house and I have served meals on wheel, so I am used to working with food.
At the moment, I am working in a computer store. It's very small and quiet, so I am looking for a more interesting job in a busier place. The earliest date that I could start working at Starlight Café is next Friday, 6th May.

I am sending you my photo, and I look forward to hearing you.

Yours sincerely,

Andrea G
